Our Sustainability & Community Initiatives

The Community Food Box Project
food access for londoners
The Community Food Box Project is a collaboration with LIFE*SPIN that allows us to deliver free boxes of healthy fruits and vegetables to those who need it.

1% For The Community
ongoing support for cfbp
Since March 2021, 1% of all of our sales at On The Move Organics will be donated directly to LIFE*SPIN to help fund The Community Food Box Project! That means that when you shop with us, you’re helping support food security in your community.

LOLA Bees
natural urban beekeeping
LOLA Bees (London Ontario Learning Apiary) is an urban beekeeping nonprofit. Their mission is to practice natural beekeeping, develop community workshops and experiences, and approach beekeeping as an act of environmental stewardship.

Composting Program
REINTEGRATING WASTE STREAM
Our relationship with compost goes way back. From the early days of Jeff's vermiculture experiments at the market (anyone remember that?), to the backyard mega-composter, to our current partnership with local farmers, we've always taken responsibility for reintegrating 100% of our food waste at On The Move and @rootcellarldn.

The Root Cellar
Established in 2012 in the Old East Village by a group of local food activists, The Root Cellar was London's first and only local organic restaurant.

Zero-Waste Jar Return Program
REDUCING FOOD SYSTEM WASTE
As environmental activists, we are serious about reducing waste at every stage of the farm to table journey of food. With that in mind, we launched our own Zero-Waste product line.

From The North - Manitoulin Island
LOCAL FOOD SYSTEM CONNECT
We’re excited to announce that we’ve started an experimental procurement run of artisanal sustainable foods between Northern Ontario (namely Manitoulin Island) & Southwestern Ontario.

TTLT - Passport to Nature
PASSPORT TO NATURE
Thames Talbot Land Trust (TTLT) is a registered charity. Their mission is to protect, conserve, and restore nature within Elgin, Middlesex, Oxford and Perth counties, contributing to a stable climate, human well-being, and healthy habitats for all species.

Bicycle Delivery
ZERO CARBON TRANSPORTATION
When the weather gets warm, the team pulls out the custom built, upcycled delivery bike. The bike helps us keep our emissions down for local deliveries!

Urban Agriculture
With the goal of launching some of our own herbs and veggies next spring, our urban hoop house has been a project we've been excited to launch for years! Stay tuned for updates.
