Duck Eggs - 6 Pack

$4.99

From McIntosh farms in Atwood, Ontario, these pastured duck eggs are a real treat.

McIntosh ducks have access to the outdoors year round and have their forage diet supplemented by certified GMO-free feed.

Fun Fact: These eggs come from Pasture-Raised Chickens. Free-Range Chickens are required a minimum of 2 sq. feet per chicken, while pasture-raised chickens have on average 100 sq feet per chicken!

Did You Know:
  1. Duck eggs have twice the nutritional value of a chicken egg and stay fresher longer due to their thicker shell.
  2. Duck eggs are richer with more Albumen making cakes and pastries fluffier and richer.
  3. Duck Eggs have more Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 is thought to improve everything from brain health to healthy skin.
  4. Duck Eggs are an Alkaline producing food, one of the few foods that leave your body more alkaline which is a great benefit to cancer patients as cancer cells do not thrive in an alkaline environment.
From McIntosh Farm: "We have 200 laying ducks. These are a mixture of breeds, khaki Campbell, Indian runner, golden 300, Pekin and Ruin. Our ducks are outside on pasture from 8am until dark every day. In the winter the door is open for them to go in and out as they please but we are always surprised how much time ducks and geese spend outside in the winter months. They are a fattier bird so the can handle these Canadian winters. We have been told ducks that are for laying eggs will last 2-3 years. We are coming up on our three year mark for about half of ours now. They are showing no signs of stopping. I believe this is because of their good health as the are provided with fresh grass when it is in season. Grub from the orchard and forest they have excess to, as well as the occasional apple that may fall from the trees. Not only do they provide us with eggs but they also are move around to keep bugs out of certain areas of our farm. Spring and fall they are in the orchard to keep bugs and worms off our apple/pear/cherry trees. Summer they go though our sweet corn and potatoes. We have never had to spray anything because of our ducks! We supplement their diet with non-GMO grains."
