Great beer begins on a farm. Our annual truly local craft beer festival showcases beers that are not only brewed locally but made with ingredients grown on local farms. In past years, we have collaborated with the London Homebrewers Guild to host a competition where the only criteria is the use of greater than 60% local ingredients. This year we collaborated on a pair of beers coming from the same mash. This Truly Local Hefeweizen showcases local organic malts from Harvest Hop and Malt (Guelph) Violetta Malt (Andrew St. Jean, New Hamburg), Spelt malt (Howick Community Farms, Gorrie) Wheat malt (R. Brubacher, ), alongside Triple Perle Hops (Backroads Hops, Parkhill) and Weizen I yeast (Escarpment Labs, Guelph) Characteristically cloudy,with loads of yeast derived banana esters, its a local twist on a class German Wheat beer.
