Folks, as fellow local food lovers, we bring you sad but inevitable news: it is time to say goodbye to the dainty coronation grape. Let us take this time to reflect on the past season: We have enjoyed this delectable fruit in smoothies and sal
ads, straight off the vine and in fancy compotes. Grown in Niagara's organic vineyards and brought to us fresh-picked and ripe for eating, this has truly been The Summer of The Grape. Alas, Autumn is here, so we locavores must bid goodbye to the summer's fresh bounty and turn, instead, to the cold weather harvest. It is now the season for steamed kale and butternut squash soup, pumpkin pie and spiced apple cider...
Okay, we're really not that upset.
But! Come in to The Root Cellar today for the last batch of coronation grape muffins, and pay your respects to the agricultural plentitude of South Western Ontario.
-smoked ham panini sandwiches with sorrel and pea shoots, spanish onion, and beet & goat cheese spread
-egg salad sandwiches (available this afternoon)
-pork broth soup (still in development in the kitchen!)
-4 potato salad with fresh corn and an avocado cream dressing
-mushroom, roasted beet, onion and cheddar cheese crispy thin crust pizzas
