Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much is delivery?
It's free inside London. For customers outside of London, it is a very reasonable $4 flat rate.
2) Do I need to be home in order to receive my box?
Not at all. Many of our customers our away when we deliver. The front porch is the most common location for us to leave your delivery, but any protected (from the sun and elements) place will do. Just let us know where you would like us to leave your delivery in the order comments section of checkout.
3) I live in an apartment. Can I still get a delivery?
Of course! We deliver to many customers in apartment buildings. Some common solutions are:
a) We give you a call 5 minutes prior to delivery and then we would meet you in the lobby.
b) Some customers feel comfortable having the delivery left in their lobby.
c) Some customers arrange with their building manager or neighbour to allow us access to the apartment building on delivery day and we leave the bin at your door.
d) You can pick up your box at our pop-up shoppe, 629 Dundas, on Thursdays between 4 and 7, or at our Juice Bar at the Western Fair Market on Saturdays between 8 and 3.
4) Do I have to get a box every week?
Not at all. You can order as frequently or infrequently as you like or need. There is no commitment. We won't deliver unless you place an order. That said, experience has taught us that when customers order on a weekly basis for at least a month, their cooking and eating habits often change for the better. More veg!
5) Can I get a box every week, as I'd rather not think about it?
Absolutely! In the next couple of weeks, you will be able to set up a recurring weekly order for many different product including the produce boxes. You could get veggies, milk, bread, and eggs delivered every week or every other week if you wanted. Need to pause for a week, simply edit your schedule before the regular order deadline. To add an item to a recurring order, simply click "add recurring".
6) I don't like "x". Can I make a substitution?
The standard local box is a great value at $30 and often contains at least $33 in wonderful organic fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, in order to maintain that level of value we aren't able to make substitutions in the standard local box. We do our best to make sure there is great variety and a good full looking box when we make our produce selections. Eating the standard local box can be a wonderful way to try out new veggies too. That said, we understand that there are some things that just won't ever pass your lips. So, we have a "never send" list that you can adjust under "configure your box preferences". Never want to see a tomato or a bunch of celery in your box, simply click on "Do Not Send". The offending item will never appear in your box. We'll swap it for something of equivalent value while packing.
If you are looking for a greater degree of control than this, your best option is to create your own custom box. Mix and match whichever products you like so long as there is at least $30 in your cart.
7) I have my own box. Can I use that instead of paying the $15 deposit?
Unfortunately not. We use tough rubbermaid bins that are built to withstand delivery after delivery. This significantly cuts down on packaging waste. The bins also stack securely on our delivery bikes and in the truck, and they nest inside one another, taking up less space when they aren't in use. Can you imagine if we had to keep track of different bins for every customer? Consider also that for every customer we actually need two bins. One that you have and one that we will deliver to you on the next order.
8) I have a box from Eat Green Organics. Can I use that instead of paying the $15 deposit?
Absolutely. After your first delivery and picking up the Eat Green Organic's bin, we will refund the $15 deposit.
