1 dozen great tasting certified organic eggs from happy chickens. Fry one up and you’ll see and taste the difference that makes. These certified organic free-range brown eggs come from Don and Sharon Gingerich’s farm in Zurich, Ontario. That’s 68 km from our warehouse. Free-range means the chickens are free to roam, both inside their barn and out. Certified-organic means that in addition to the insects and other food that the hens scrounge up in the great outdoors, they are fed certified-organic feed and their eggs are washed by approved methods.
In most cases, eggs need to travel from the farm to a certified federal grading facility. This means that even “local” eggs have frequently logged a lot of miles travelling from the farm to the grading facility and from there to the shop. However, the Gingerich’s operation is unique in that they have established a grading facility right on the farm. Eggs are gathered, washed, hand graded and packaged on the farm, and then Don brings them to us. They don't get much fresher than that.
