Aptly named, the watermelon radish is sweet, crisp, with a bright red-to-pink centre and a white outer with a green “rind”. When sliced it truly does resemble a watermelon. Related to the chinese daikon radish, watermelon radishes tend to be sweeter and milder than other radish varieties. While they can be eaten cooked - braising and broiling being popular options - their flavour and stunning colour is put to great use when sliced and left raw in salads or even a veggie dip tray.
